Keyhole Scarf Collection

The term “keyhole scarves” refers to scarves that have a slit into which one end is inserted to secure the scarf. No knot is needed. They are tidier and less bulky than other scarves to wear and great for people like me who are accessory impaired. They can be made on any machine and in many stitches.

Kimono Commotion

How much style can we get from a rectangle of fabric? Quite a lot! These designs are all based on the traditional Kimono design which is composed of rectangles. I have taken a liberty here and there to add interest. These are easy to knit, easy to fit and generally fun to make and wear.

Scoodies have suddenly become really popular. I really didn’t understand why until I made my first one. Now I get it! These are warm without being restrictive and are less disastrous than most hats on the hairdo. (Not that I actually HAVE a hairdo but why make things worse than they have to be?)

Socks of All Sorts volume 1

2 common gauges are given with each pattern so that the socks may be knitted on standard, mid-gauge or bulky machines. Fine gauge machines may be able to use the standard instructions but the patterns have not been tested for them. Passaps can use the standard instructions. One gauge is definitely for standards/Passaps, the other for bulkies. Mid-gauge machines choose the one of these that works best for the individual machine. Most mid-gauges can knit at least one, sometimes both versions.

Sock fabrics and gauges
helps you to understand the difference between knitting sock and sweater fabrics and how to use the patterns for your machine

Fixing the fit & understanding sock sizes
shows how to substitute yarns and gauges if necessary and make perfectly fitted socks even if you can't find the yarn given in the pattern or the feet to be fitted are unusual

Working with weights explains the function & type of weights needed for sock knitting

Happy Feet
Classic socks knitted with ribbed tops and circular feet. The feet are seamless. The tops require a seam. Ribber required.

Simple stretch socks
These socks are knitted circular so a ribber is essential. They make use of lycra run-along

Soy Socks
Knitted flat and seamed so no ribber is required. Soy has naturally anti-bacterial properties!

Socks to Dye For
These socks take advantage of self-patterning yarns whether purchased or dyed yourself. The tops are mock rib and the socks are knitted flat so no ribber is required.

Beneath The Surface
Explains how you can dye your own self-patterning yarns.

Summer Socks
Knitted with mock ribbed tops, hung hems and circular. Therefore they have no seams at all. They come off the machine with only the toe to be closed.

Cushion foot socks
Part of the sock is lightly felted to get the cushioned feet. Socks are knitted in 2 yarns to make this possible. A ribber is helpful but not essential

Making socks into slipper socks.

Turkish Delight
An unusual way of knitting flat socks, inspired by sock shapes from Turkey.
Assorted sock tops describes how to make 6 different types and substitute them in the sock patterns for even greater variety and comfort.

The Answer Lady's Machine Knitting Notebook

This is a progressive knitting course in 2 gauges so as to be workable on most machines. It is also a nearly infinite pattern book. The gauges are 4 stitches/6 rows per inch and 7 stitches/10 rows per inch. The first works on bulkies, Bonds and most mid-gauge machines using worsted weight yarn. The second works on Japanese standard and Passap 5mm machines. The book includes chest sizes from 20-54" which includes infants to XXL adults. Oodles and oodles of styles are possible. Included are pullovers, cardigans, cables, short and long sleeves, multiple necklines, vests, multiple sleeve styles, darts, fairisle trims and much more. One style builds on the next and terms are fully defined. Great for everyone from brand new beginners to experienced knitters. There is a size and a stye in this book for everyone you know.

Wanderlust Cables

Wanderlust Cables are so called because they can wander all over a piece of knitting. They show up nicely on a stockinette background. They can appear enormous but are really just a series of 3 stitch crosses. Because of this, there is little stress on the yarn and the needles. Wanderlust Cables do not require a ribber and can be made on any machine including hobby machines. Add them to your favorite patterns as well as knitting the patterns given in the book.
